INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY
There are so many jazzy things to see and hear on International Jazz Day. The "jazz day" is the brainchild of jazz legend, Herbie Hancock, who dreamed of having one day a year when jazz would be played around the world to celebrate how jazz can promote understanding and dialogue between people. His dream came true when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held the first International Jazz Day on April 30, 2012 to highlight jazz and its ability to unite people in all corners of the globe.
Calgary’s been celebrating Jazz Day since 2013 with jazz events across Calgary. Come out and join the fun this April 30. And bring a friend – it’s the perfect way to introduce someone to jazz.
